about

I don't know why I am doing this to my self.

Way back, in 2003, I got the music creation video game eJay. I loved it. It was a laugh making my own music. I never explored it further than just dropping the loops onto the tracks and making "music" I liked.

In 2019 I rediscovered the albums - I actually made a total of five of them, all in eJay 3 and eJay 5, between 2003 and 2007, and felt it might be fun to put them out there in the world.

Then, Kris from Disintegration State said he'd remaster the first one for me. So that's what you'll find here - the 2019 "remasters" of my "debut" album "What You Need to Know, What You Need to Do".

It's awful, of course, but why not.

The idea behind this album when I made it in 2003 was that I was using eJay to make music that could conceivably be performed by a band. This was likely because my rock-ist attitudes at the time baulked at the idea of a "computer" album. I never explored it beyond these tools, and only recently have been experimental with making real music.

In fact, I've been using Garageband to make the exact same type of album as this, with the Apple Loops. Maybe one day that'll see a release.

You don't have to buy this, but if you do it'll go to supporting my future 2021 plans with real music, probably.

Some Notes:

- The artwork you see is actually one taken by my wife in 2019. The album's "original artwork" was a single blue square with the title in black text. I don't have the original artwork, but it's embedded into the MP3s I have. It was made in Macromedia Fireworks.
- These WAVs were created by Kirs Ilic from my only copies of the original files, which were likely 96kbps MP3s encoded directly from within eJay, and they are filled with artifacts. I think that at one point these might have been transcoded WMA files (remember those?). Either way, the fact they sound as good as they do now is all thanks to him, really.
- The first track I did in eJay is in here; Electronic Rock. It's a dogs dinner, and not even the kind that my dog would like. Originally, the track was Track 3 on the running order, but it is so awful that I've almost left it off the "remaster" release. Instead, it's the 11th track on a ten-track album. Enjoy.

PS Airworthiness is my "real" music artist name. What do you reckon?
